Mental Health Rehabilitation Inpatient Unit
Overview
What the service is
The Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit (MHRU) provides a rehabilitation program in a supported environment.
What we do
The MHRU team focus on consumers’ strengths in order to help build the skills needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing, while living in the community.
The MHRU focuses on a recovery model of care, and believes that recovery is an individual process of gaining new meaning and purpose in one’s life. Rehabilitation aims to help consumers improve their quality of life, build skills for community living and provide access to any supports needed.
The rehabilitation program is developed with the consumer and focuses on living in the community, working and learning, mental and physical health, and family and friendships. Staff involved in working with the consumer during their recovery journey are: a psychiatrist, doctors, nurses, a clinical psychologist, a social worker, an occupational therapist, a diversional therapist, peer support workers, and consumer advocates.

What to bring / what will be required
In order to make your stay at the MHRU comfortable we request that you bring with you your own toiletries and clothing. We also encourage you to have money available as we often go on outings to cafes in the community. Mobile phones are permitted on the unit after signing a waver and can be used in your room.
