Reporting serious wrong doing (public interest disclosures)

Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) is committed to providing a safe reporting environment and protection for people who raise concerns of serious wrongdoing.

The District is committed to effectively:

  • Identifying wrongdoing
  • Protecting individuals who report wrongdoing from adverse actions
  • Holding those responsible for wrongdoing accountable
  • Protecting witnesses who provide information during investigations
  • Ensuring that allegations of wrongdoing are dealt with fairly and within a reasonable timeframe
  • Addressing systemic issues

Protections are available for staff who come forward with concerns under the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (NSW) (PID Act) related to the following types of serious wrongdoing:

  • Corrupt conduct
  • Serious maladministration
  • A serious and substantial waste of public money
  • A Government information breach
  • A privacy breach
  • A local government pecuniary interest contravention

To support our commitment, the NSW Health Public Interest Disclosures Policy sets out how we manage reports of serious wrong doing and the protections that are available to people who make reports. If you are thinking of making a report of serious wrongdoing, it may be helpful to refer to the policy along with our ISLHD reporting policy ISLHD CORP PD 35 - Reporting of Serious wrongdoing - Internal and External channels.

Reports can be made to our email ISLHD-PID@health.nsw.gov.au or to one of the ISLHD Disclosure Officers.

You will receive acknowledgment of your report and the matter will be assessed and managed according to the NSW Health policy and the relevant legislation.

If you have any questions or would like to raise concerns of serious wrongdoing, please send an email to ISLHD-PID@health.nsw.gov.au.
