The Respiratory Ward at Shellharbour Hospital can accommodate a variety of predominately respiratory patients. We care for many medical conditions, ranging from young asthmatics, to elderly patients with chronic conditions. The friendly experienced nursing staff consist of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses, and are able to provide the patient with expert care during their hospital stay.
This Ward is a 30 bed ward, designed to cater for . It is a single level general ward, with 13 patient rooms (Single rooms and 4 bed shared rooms).
The Respiratory ward is the designated care area for patients with complex respiratory related conditions such as chest drains or patients requiring high flow nasal oxygen. Patients requiring Non-Invasive ventilation for respiratory failure are nursed in Shellharbour Hospital Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU).
