Wollongong Medical Assessment Unit
Overview
The Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at Wollongong Hospital is an acute 48 hour, short stay unit, featuring an interdisciplinary team led by Consultants. The MAU places a high priority on caring for its patients and this is demonstrated by the dedication our team display. The MAU works closely with the Emergency Department (ED) to improve quality of care for patients and to assist with improving patient flow across the hospital. MAU will also be working hard to get you, the patient, well enough to return safely to your home.
In NSW MAU's were originally established in 2008. The MAU was developed to deliver faster, safer and better care for the elderly and those with chronic conditions and as an alternative to treatment in the Emergency Department.
