Breastfeeding information and support
Overview
Child & Family Health Nurses (CFHN) provide breastfeeding information and support from birth to 5 years in a variety of settings. We offer one on one breastfeeding information and support to families and run regular breastfeeding information sessions across the District.
ISLHD is committed to the Baby Friendly health Initiative. Its purpose is to protect promote and support breastfeeding for every breastfeeding women across the district so that every baby gets the best start in life (BFHI WHO/Unicef).
Women can access breastfeeding information and support antenatal and at any point along their breastfeeding journey.
Service provision will be determined by you and your child’s needs. You can choose a one on one consultation or join an information session.
No referral necessary for CFHN appointments or information sessions. Please access your closest centre here for an appointment.

What to bring to your appointment
Breastfeeding women bring your baby/child and their ‘Blue Book’ (My personal health record).
