C7 West - Inpatient Ward (Haematology, Medical Oncology & Radiation Oncology)

Overview

C7 is a 7 day 24 hour, inpatient unit comprised of 25 beds, serving the catchment area of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, situated in block C of the Wollongong Hospital. The unit provides services for patients with malignant solid tumours, haematological malignancies and other haematological disorders. The age group treated on C7 ranges from late teens to the aged.

Haematology, medical oncology and radiation oncology patients admitted to C7 are often for the following reasons:

  • Diagnostic investigations and staging
  • Symptom control
  • Chemotherapy
  • Radiotherapy
  • Haematological support
  • Autologous Stem Cell Transplants
  • Radioactive iodine treatments
  • End of Life Care (where appropriate).
