Overview
Adult outpatient speech pathology service.
What we do
Manage high risk clients over 18 years of age with new onset/acquired swallowing and some communication disorders.
Our team is made up of one speech pathologist.
When to access this service
Adults experiencing new changes to swallowing (oro-pharyngeal) or high risk communication difficulties.
What to expect
First appointments are typically one hour, during which time the speech pathologist will explore your reason for referral, assess your swallow or communication, and discuss a plan to manage your concern.
Should therapy be indicated, sessions are 30 minutes 1-2 times per week (per speech pathologist prescription) for maximum of 6 weeks. These will be delivered in a one-on-one setting.
Who should access this service
Shoalhaven residents over 18 years of age with new onset/acquired swallowing or high risk communication changes. Clients must be able to attend the outpatient clinic, and be able to actively participate in therapy.

Parking and Public Transport
Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is located on Scenic Drive. Pedestrians can access the hospital from the main entrance.
There is a bus stop located close to the hospital with the following services available – Shoal Bus 735 and 721 route numbers.
Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital has limited parking available for patients, families and carers at the front of the hospital and in the car park on Scenic Drive.
Advice for disabled in getting to the service
There are disabled parking spots in the car park. The drop off zone at the front door of the hospital can be accessed via the entrance on Scenic Drive.
