Illawarra Shoalhaven Menopause Service

Overview

Women in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven who are experiencing severe and complex symptoms of menopause and perimenopause, can get support at the Illawarra Shoalhaven Menopause Service. A referral to the service can provide access to a comprehensive and holistic menopause assessment, guidance and support for the management of symptoms, and advice on bone health, nutrition, cardiovascular health and wellbeing.

Specialist staff provide safe, high quality, evidence-based care, including support and expert advice on:

  • managing severe and complex symptoms of menopause
  • bone health for the management of osteoporosis and to prevent fractures
  • lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke
  • supporting mental health and wellbeing
  • management of weight and lifestyle
  • managing urinary problems.

The service works closely with the medically-led hub site at The Royal Hospital for Women (South East Sydney Local Health District). The Illawarra Shoalhaven Menopause Service can refer clients with more complex needs there for a specialist review.
