What the service is
Neonatal inpatient services consist of a Special Care Nursery Unit providing care for newborns in the Shoalhaven region born 36 weeks or greater and those requiring emergency care and transfer.
What we do
We provide specialised inpatient care for neonates born at 36 weeks or greater, as well as for babies born elsewhere who are transferring back for ongoing care in the Shoalhaven.
What to expect
Acute clinical care for neonates with specialised care requirements including basic life support, feeding and growing, support with the establishment of breastfeeding, and the handing over of ongoing care to community care providers at discharge.

Inpatient services are initiated through Emergency departments, birthing units and other local health districts.
