Binji & Boori - Aboriginal Maternal Infant Child Health (AMICH)
Overview
About
Binji & Boori is an Aboriginal specific service that targets families whom are pregnant or have children aged 0- 5 (or when the child starts school). Binji & Boori is a multidisciplinary team with two locations within the Illawarra Shoalhaven our teams including midwives, child and family health nurses, Aboriginal Health workers, social workers, an Occupational therapist and a speech pathologist.
Our service offers home visiting, visits in clinics and outreach from Aboriginal services. Binji & Boori provides outreach throughout the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region, including Milton/Ulladulla, Jerrinja, Wreck Bay and Jervis Bay.
Our team will work alongside other services to offer you holistic, coordinated care. The Aboriginal health workers within the service offer cultural/emotional support in times of need and during your time with Binji & Boori.

Artwork
The artwork in the banner above was designed by client/artist Holly Sanders.
It represents the connections and support networks between Binji and Boori and our mothers, children and families - supporting with and through Aboriginal cultural knowledge. the figures surrounding the center mother and child represent Binji and Boori health services and individuals supporting and working in partnership with our Aboriginal and Torres strait islander families and communities. the journey lines towards the center meeting place represents both Shoalhaven and Illawarra aboriginal women, Boori's and families receiving culturally safe and respectful care. the concentric circles in the background represent the diversity, strength and resilience of our aboriginal communities, families and cultures.
