Dr Bibhu received his Doctor of Medicine degree with Honours from Kazakh National Medical University in 2006. He completed his emergency medicine training at Westmead Hospital NSW in 2017.

After working for a few years in his home country Nepal, Dr Bibhu migrated to Australia in 2011 and worked in hospitals across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales, before taking up his position at Wollongong Hospital Emergency Department.

Dr Bibhu’s interest areas are improving patient flow and simulation training. He is the co-founder of ‘Ace the OSCE course’, which focuses on helping fellowship candidates pass the OSCE exam. (OSCE stands for Objective Structured Clinical Examination and consists of a set of clinical examination stations covering various situations and simulations).

Dr Michelle Golden received her Doctor of Medicine degree in New York at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1997, and completed her emergency medicine training at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. She became a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine in 2002 and a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine in 2007.

Dr Michelle Golden first moved to Australia in 2007. From that time, she worked at Wollongong Hospital Emergency Department for over 6 years before moving back to the United States to become an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Having now returned to Australia permanently, Dr Golden is a Senior Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine at Wollongong Hospital.

Anna is the Nurse Unit Manager of the Wollongong Hospital Emergency Department. She has 17 years’ experience in emergency medicine, and is passionate about providing excellent emergency care to the Illawarra community.

The mum of quadruplets, she has learnt to fit lots in! In her not very spare time she is a wife, sideline cheerleader at kids sports, self-confessed fitness addict, beach bum and lonely planet global explorer.

Dr Carrigan works as a Senior Staff Specialist at Wollongong, Shoalhaven and Shellharbour Emergency Departments. He is a fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine in the United Kingdom (UK), and is a diplomate in Anaesthetics from the Royal College of Anaesthetists (UK).

Currently Dr Carrigan is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong Graduate Medical School and is active in facilitating research between UOW and Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. He has sports medical experience with St George – Illawarra National Rugby League (team doctor) and he assists in world surfing league and action sporting events.

Dr Carrigan's other emergency interests include airway management and ultrasound.

Dr Modher Albeiruti finished his medical degree at ALmustansiria University in Baghdad-Iraq in 2004. He did his internship and residency in Iraq, but had to flee the civil war in 2006. He worked in several countries for four years until he arrived in Australia in 2010 and started working at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.

Dr Albeiruti trained in emergency medicine and gained his specialist degree from the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine in 2017. He has an Emergency Consultant with Wollongong Hospital since 2017.

Dr Stewart Birt is a Staff Specialist Paediatrician working in the Paediatric Emergency Department at Wollongong Hospital. He supervises and supports Junior Medical Officers in their assessment and management of children presenting to the Emergency Department with Acute Paediatric Presentations.

Dr Birt is a General Paediatrician and has been working at the Wollongong Hospital Emergency Department for over 8 years. Previously he was the Paediatric Lead at the University of Wollongong, and Coordinated the Phase 2 Graduate School of Medicine students undertaking their Paediatric term. He also runs a General Paediatric Outpatient clinic.

Dr Birt completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2008, and has interests in general paediatrics, paediatric emergency and paediatric endocrinology. Prior to coming to Wollongong Stewart trained in Newcastle and completed advanced training at the Children’s Hospital Westmead, with a Fellowship in Endocrinology.

When he is not working, Stewart enjoys good red wine and rugby union, and supports the Waratahs and Wallabies.

Dr Fineberg is an emergency physician with interests in EMS & medical education. He completed his Emergency Department training at Harbor-UCLA in Los Angeles in 1998 & a fellowship in aeromedical retrieval in Sydney in 2002. He is an ACEP Ambassador to Australia & New Zealand.

Dr Fineberg's career has spanned four continents, and has included positions as the EMS director for Hawaii, EP with one of four USAF Mobile Flying Surgical Teams (MFST) in Europe, and volunteer work in Asia & the Americas. He currently works in the Emergency Departments of Wollongong Hospital and St George Hospital, and as a Senior Retrieval Specialist with Greater Sydney Area HEMS since 2007.

He is also a Co-Founder and Co-Director of DevelopingEM - a not-for-profit organisation that provides education in pre-hospital and critical care medicine to under-resourced regions of the developing world.

Dr Ian Muir is an Emergency Medicine Staff Specialist at Wollongong Hospital. Currently, he is one of the Deputy Directors of the Emergency Department, and is involved with Quality Assurance and complaint management. He also manages the mentorship program for ED in conjunction with ACEM.

During his time as a Registrar (prior to completion of the ACEM Fellowship exam), Dr Muir has had exposure to a range of cases through the busy emergency department. He enjoys the support from, and exposure to, the diverse range of experienced emergency medicine senior professionals.

Originally from Cape Town, Dr Muir has been living in Australia for over a decade and has fallen in love with the area. Residing in Bulli, he cites the 15 minute drive to Wollongong, close vicinity to Sydney city, and access to the South Coast’s best beaches, surf and lifestyle, as reasons he chooses to stay.

Dr Soo Ming Phang graduated from the University of Manchester, UK in 2002, and completed basic surgical training in the UK. Intending to have a career break in Australia for a year in 2008, he left the UK but succumbed to Australian charm and still hasn’t left.

He finished emergency training at the Hunter New England Health District in NSW and qualified as a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) in 2015. In 2016 he started working as a Staff Specialist at Wollongong Hospital Emergency Department.

Dr Phang is passionate about emergency training, and is actively involved to improve Wollongong Hospital's Emergency Department's training. He has a special interest in undergraduate teaching, and is currently an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer for the Graduate Medical School at the University of Wollongong.
