Congratulations on your new role in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District! 

This site will help you with a few essentials to get off to a great start in our organisation. 

Acceptance of employment

Before you start your new role, you will receive the following paperwork from the Workforce Support Team:

  • Your letter of offer including an acceptance of offer section to complete and return 
  • New Employee - Personal Details Form (includes banking details) 
  • Tax File Declaration Form 
  • Superannuation Fund Election Form 
  • Election for Salary Sacrifice/After Tax Contributions (optional) 
  • EEO – Data Collection Form (optional) 
  • Confidentiality / Privacy Agreement 
  • Recognition of Prior Service Form
  • ISLHD Standard Expectations for Staff  

You must ensure that you read and complete these forms as appropriate, and return as soon as possible to speed up the process of preparing for your first day of employment. 

Your pay

All staff are paid by HealthShare NSW (previously known as Health Support Services or HSS).  Your pay rate is determined by the relevant industrial award and can be found in your letter of offer. 

Once you have your employee number you can manage your personal and pay information through StaffLink Employee Self Service.

Uniforms

NSW Health has a state-wide uniform policy to provide you with practical and functional uniforms in a variety of styles. Each work stream – such as medical, nursing and midwifery, allied health or oral health, have their own individual colours, helping patients to easily identify members of their care team.

Uniforms are ordered online using the Total Apparel Management System (TAMS).  To order your uniform, visit the TAMS website, enter your employee number and surname and follow the prompts.

Code of Conduct

The  NSW Health Code of Conduct defines a set of six standards of ethical and professional conduct for all employees, contractors, voluntary staff in ISLHD. They are:

  1. To promote a positive workplace environment
  2. To demonstrate honesty and integrity
  3. To act professionally and ethically
  4. To use resources lawfully, efficiently and only as authorised
  5. To maintain security of confidential or sensitive information
  6. To maintain a professional relationship with patients or clients

The Code of Conduct provides a framework for ethical decision making and assists in building a positive workplace culture based on our CORE Values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. 

Your first day

Before you arrive for your first day, ensure that you have read through all employment documentation and you are aware of your work location and start date. 

Take time to familiarise yourself with transport, parking and food services that are nearby your work location.

Orientation

Your letter of offer will advise if you are required to attend an orientation program. 

Corporate orientation is a program of information and activities designed to welcome you to the district and provide you with the information you need to get started in your job. There will be a variety of presentations from staff on topics such as Communication, Diversity, Infection Control and Work Health and Safety.
 

Induction

At your work location your manager will arrange for a local site induction to familiarise you with your workplace. 

During this induction your manager will arrange your ID badge or security access, a computer workstation, keys and email access.
