Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Chief Executive, Margot Mains has welcomed Minister for Health and Medical Research, Brad Hazzard’s appointment of Chris Bertinshaw as Chair of the District’s Board. Mr Chris Bertinshaw takes over from Professor Denis King OAM, who has served in the position since 2011.

The Illawarra is set to receive a huge boost to health services across the region, with a site now chosen for the new Shellharbour Hospital, and plans to expand bed capacity and services at Bulli and Wollongong and build a new community health facility at Warrawong.

Illawarra Shoalhaven patients will soon receive complex cardiothoracic treatment close to home, with the region’s first specialist Cardiothoracic Surgery Service opening this year.

Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District’s third COVID-19 vaccine clinic has opened at Shoalhaven Hospital, with frontline health care workers rolling up their sleeves to receive the first jabs this morning.
