Aboriginal Health
The District operates supplementary services for Aboriginal people which includes the Aboriginal Chronic Care Unit, and Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Child Health services. Aboriginal Health Workers (AHWs) are employed across a range of Community Health programs and services. Drawing on their knowledge of the local Aboriginal community they work collaboratively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve better health outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities, and play a key role in facilitating relationships between Aboriginal patients and other health professionals.
