How the social media process works at ISLHD
Accordion Content
- Contact ISLHD-Communications@health.nsw.gov.au with any ideas for posts, eg health care heros, public health information, projects, awareness days/weeks/months, etc
- Provide a small brief about the type of content you would like made, e.g. a design, photo, video, animation, a call out for stories or images
- We may come back with a better way to execute your brief.
- In your brief, please include as many of the below as you can:
- Objective – what are you wanting to achieve.
- A small blurb - this will inform the written content.
- A call to action – what do you want people to do (i.e. is there a link to visit or a and action to take?)
- A deadline – we suggest a minimum of two weeks lead time, longer for a video or animation.
- Potential risks and moderation information – social media is an open forum, and we need to know what criticisms we may face and how to respond.
- A media contact – media may approach us about putting the content out in a more traditional format, we may need someone who can speak to them.
Your responsibilities
Accordion Content
You must follow the Code of Conduct and the Social Media Policy when engaging in any social media interactions, whether you can be identified as an ISLHD or NSW Health staff member or not.
NOTE: You should remember that you are a representative of ISLHD and NSW Health even when:
- Posting on your personal social media accounts, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter (or X), YouTube, Tic Tok, Threads, SnapChat, WhatsApp, Twitch, KiK etc.
- Commenting on other's social media pages/accounts, particularly on ISLHD accounts and pages, or using words associated with ISLHD.
- Private or direct messaging people across social media platforms. It may surprise you, but the Code of Conduct and Social Media Policy applies to your messages, too. Make sure you are always being responsible and/or trust the person you are messaging, as anyone has the ability to screenshot your messages and publicly share them.
We also advise reviewing your profile/posts and removing anything that may be able to identify you as an ISLHD or NSW Health employee. Doing this may prevent small, accidental infractions from being an issue. The one exception to this would be LinkedIn.
DO:
- Ensure patient privacy is maintained
- Report any instances of inappropriate material which requires staff to report a breach
- Act in a manner that is consistent with public sector values and legal requirements.
DO NOT:
- Make any comment that could be perceived as being on behalf of ISLHD or NSW Health
- Make any critical comment about ISLHD, any facilities, staff members, consumers, practices or procedures, or NSW Health
- Make any comment that could be perceived as favouring or promoting any non-governmental organisation
- Use your position within ISLHD or NSW Health to validate an opinion you hold
- Conduct yourself in a manner that would adversely reflect on ISLHD or NSW Health
- Post any images or videos of NSW Health staff without the knowledge or consent.
REMEMBER
- Do not say or post anything that you would not want posted on the front page of the newspaper.
- Everything is searchable on the internet, regardless of privacy settings.
- Sharing something can be perceived as supporting or promoting something.
