Wards with alternate visiting arrangements
Antenatal, Birthing and Maternity
Antenatal
Up to two people can support patients attending Antenatal outpatient clinics at our hospitals.
Note: in some situations, such as if there is limited space in a particular clinic, the number of support people may need to be reduced to ensure appropriate physical distancing can be maintained.
Birthing Unit
During labour and birth, mothers are able to be supported by up to two people.
People who have COVID-19 or are not fully vaccinated can be risk assessed to attend as the birthing woman’s partner / support person.
If the birthing woman is COVID-positive, she can have a COVID negative support person, noting that support person will then be deemed a close contact and will subsequently need to commence a seven day isolation period after leaving the Birthing Unit.
Maternity Ward
Postnatally, the partner/support person can visit the maternity ward for unrestricted time periods between 8am and 8pm.
Additionally up to two visitors at any one time are able to be present (inclusive of the partner/support person) during general hospital visiting hours from 11am to 1pm and 5pm to 7pm.
Antenatal Clinics
In most circumstances, up to two people can support patients attending outpatient clinics at our hospitals, which includes antenatal appointments. In some situations, such as if there is limited space in a particular clinic, the number of support people may need to be reduced to ensure appropriate physical distancing can be maintained.
Paediatrics and Neonatal
Children can have both parents/carers at any time with no restrictions on the length of visit.
End-of-life patients
Where a patient is receiving end of life care, visitors will be limited only to the extent required to minimise any risk.
In end of life situations, people who have COVID-19 or are not fully vaccinated can be risk assessed to visit a direct family member.
Outpatient clinics
Up to two people can support patients attending outpatient clinics at our hospitals.
Note: in some situations, such as if there is limited space in a particular clinic, the number of support people may need to be reduced to ensure appropriate physical distancing can be maintained.
