Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, as part of NSW Health, is working closely with the Australian Government to plan and implement a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccination program for our region.
Vaccines are free and eligibility is set by the Australian Government. You can book an appointment at a clinic via the Australian Government Vaccine Clinic Finder or directly at our clinics (details below):
Booster, third doses and additional winter (second) boosters
Booster dose
Our vaccination clinics offer a booster dose of vaccine to those:
- aged 16 years and older
- are three months past their second dose.
Third dose
A third dose is part of the primary vaccination course for the severely immunocompromised, intended to increase their immune response to a level closer to the average fully vaccinated person.
Additional winter booster dose (second booster)
Additional winter booster doses (second boosters) are available at our clinics for those who received their first booster dose, four or more months ago and who are:
- 65 years old or over
- 50+ years for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- 16 years or over for those who are severely immunocompromised (the winter booster dose will be a fifth COVID-19 vaccine dose for this group, following the three primary doses and first booster)
- An aged care or disability care resident.
See booking details in the clinic listings below.

Vaccination after having COVID-19
You can receive your next vaccination dose once you’ve recovered from COVID-19. For most people, this is around 4 to 6 weeks after infection.
You can become unwell with COVID-19 more than once. The best protection against contracting the virus again is to get vaccinated.

Vaccination record support
Your first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine are listed on your Immunisation History Statement in your Medicare account. Once you have received two doses of vaccine, you will also be able to download your COVID-19 digital certificate (also located in your Medicare immunisation history).
Click here for details on how to access your Immunisation History Statement.
Please note: Due to privacy reasons, children aged 14 or over need to have their own MyGov account to access or their immunisation history statements.
Alternatively, you can phone the Australian Immunisation Register and request to have a copy mailed to you. Note: Children aged 14 or over need to speak to the service officer to provide consent and verify their identity.
You can ask us to locate your COVID-19 record if:
- You are unable to find a record of your COVID-19 immunisation on your Immunisation History Statement, and
- You received your first or second dose of COVID-19 vaccine at:
- the Mass Vaccination Centre, Wollongong
- Wollongong Hospital
- Shellharbour Hospital
- An Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Outreach Clinic
Note: If you received your COVID-19 immunisation at another venue, please contact that supplier directly for your record.
Please submit your request for your record using this form.
