Maternity and Women's Health
The Division of Maternity and Women's Health was established in July 2016. Maternity Services are provided in both a hospital and community setting in the Northern and Southern Illawarra and Shoalhaven areas, providing obstetric and midwifery care, for families with low to high risk pregnancies There are a number of models of care available which include care by medical officers, midwives, and community based public home birthing services.

Wollongong Hospital ServicesWollongong Hospital provides Level 5 Maternity and Gynaecology Services and Level 4 Special Care Nursery Services. Approximately 2,500 babies are born within the hospital annually and services include antenatal services, postnatal care, neonatal services, and gynaecology services including acute inpatient services, elective gynaecology, colposcopy and an early pregnancy assessment service. |

Shoalhaven Hospital ServicesThe Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital has first class facilities and highly skilled staff including obstetricians, paediatricians and midwives. Shoalhaven Hospital provides level 3 Maternity and Gynaecology Services and Level 2 Special Care Nursery Services. Approximately 900 babies are birthed in the hospital annually and services offered include antenatal and post-natal services. |

Milton-Ulladulla HospitalServices currently provided within the Milton-Ulladulla region include local antenatal and postnatal clinics with specialist input from the Shoalhaven Hospital VMO, with midwifery and obstetrics cover provided by the local midwives and general practitioners. All births are referred to Shoalhaven Hospital. Questions and concerns during pregnancy are available via phone from Shoalhaven Hospital Maternity Unit. |
